How should I use this Hydrocodone 500ml medication?

Note: A cough is a symptom. Before taking a cough suppressant, it is important to assess the underlying cause of the cough.

Adults: The recommended dose of hydrocodone for adults is 5 mg (1 teaspoonful [5 mL]) not less than 4 hours apart, after meals and at bedtime with food or a glass of milk. Do not exceed 30 mg (6 doses) in a 24-hour period. The maximum single dose for adults is 15 mg (15 mL).

Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are using the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If your doctor has told you to take this medication regularly and miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
